June’s Finished Shrines

June decided to enshrine “Chocolate Hills” in the Philippines. June is originally from the Philippines and this place is dear to her heart. She chose to design one necklace and reproduce it twice—one for herself and one for the shop. She did a great job mixing the color palette and materials from Chocolate Hills and her own aesthetics.

In her Scrabble Tile project she chose bold and vibrant color and popular culture images of words. In the shrine necklace, you can see similar vibrant colors from the Philippines in her mixed media image and her bead choices. You also see fun popular culture beads referencing flowers and butterflies. The integration of natural colors and beads helps to create balance and connection to her natural home and sense of place.
